In Loving Memory

*Euralea Eleazar "Zar"

2004-2010

On January 6, 2010, Zar was taken prematurely from this world. His passing is a tragic loss not only to Steve, but to La Plata Arabian Stud and the entire Arabian Horse community.

 Farewell Zar

Its a painful time when you lose a four legged friend. Tougher still when you thought you were far from the end.

That neigh I'd hear when passing his door, you're late again, I'm your number one chore.

He'd snicker and prance then the great blow, it was all just an act, part of the show.

Most would say that he was better than me, there was no doubt, and I'd be the first to agree.

No prettier face, no purer of heart, we said our goodbyes and now we must part.

A lock of his mane and photos and such, looking back on it all he gave me so much.

When I grow older and near the trails end I know I'll be with my friend again.

Now my silver steed is up in heavens skies, when you see a shooting star you'll know he's passing by.

Farewell Beloved Friend, Steve

2006 N.Z Res. National Champion Colt
2007 N.Z. National Champion Colt

Having once owned such breeding icons as *Sasaki, *Vallehermoso, *Almansor and Bariata de Washoe, I wanted very much to have another stallion that has the potential for worldwide influence. Such a stallion I believe is *Euralea Eleazar. Sired by a National Champion and out of the Five Time National Champion Redwood Lodge Estonia, Zar has the capacity to be a dynastic breeding horse. Linebred stallions, of great dams, very often determine the future of the breed. His pedigree is luminous indeed with four crosses to *El Shaklan, six to the Legendary *Estopa, twice to *Carmargue and twenty two crosses to Skowronek.

Zar will be the sire of foals from my pure Spanish mares and of a fabulous collection of *Ecaho daughters numbering five.
